Description
At Algrano, weโre building the platform where independent coffee producers and roasters trade green coffee more transparently and efficiently. We help roasters discover and buy great coffee, and we help producers reach new customers and grow stronger, longer-term relationships.
As a Product Designer, youโll be part of our Product team (7 people), working closely with our Head of Design, Head of Product and CTO. Youโll help shape and improve the experience across key parts of the marketplace, including coffee discovery, the offers system, and inventory management and implement them in code (writing HTML & CSS) alongside the Engineering team.
We use an adapted agile process (Shape Up methodology) to focus on impactful work, deliver high quality, and get things done. Algrano is a Ruby on Rails web application, and design at Algrano is highly collaborative. Youโll work closely with engineering to ship thoughtful, well-crafted interfaces.
Depending on your strengths, interests, and business priorities, your focus may evolve over time.
What youโll do
- Design and improve user-facing experiences across the Algrano marketplace
- Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to turn ambiguous problems into clear, usable flows and interfaces
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI for new features and improvements
- Implement your designs in code within our Ruby on Rails application using HTML & SCSS
- Help evolve our design system (Brew) and interaction patterns, raising consistency and quality across the product
- Contribute to product quality through careful attention to UX writing, edge cases, and the details that make an experience feel smooth and trustworthy
- Communicate primarily asynchronously in Slack and Notion, with weekly live meetings
- Join periodic team gatherings in Zurich, Switzerland
Weโd love to hear from you if
- You have 4+ years of experience designing digital products (UI and UX), ideally in a product-led environment
- You can take a problem from unclear to clear and balance discovery, iteration, and delivery
- You have strong interaction and visual design skills and you care about craft and quality
- You enjoy collaborating closely with engineers and can think in components and systems
- You can write HTML and CSS. We build in Haml and SCSS within a Ruby on Rails codebase
- You communicate clearly in written and spoken English
- You are remote-first and based in Latin America or East Africa.
Bonus points for
- Experience with marketplaces, e-commerce, or complex filtering and search experiences
